From 1996 to 1999, Ms. Zhao was lecturer in the mechanical department of Zhejiang University, and since then she has served as general manager of China Software Research and Development Institute in France-based BVRP Group, and Chief Manager of the Central European Technology and Talent Transfer Center of Zhejiang Province;

In 2007, Ms. Zhao entered Zhejiang University, working as the Director for Science and Technology Industry Center of the International Innovation Institute.

Ms. Zhao is currently Secretary General of Zhejiang Photovoltaic Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, Hangzhou Photovoltaic Industry Association, as well as Hangzhou Renewable Energy Industry Association. 

Since 2009, Dr. Zhao has been actively promoting the innovative development of photovoltaic industry of Zhejiang Province, providing platform innovation services for photovoltaic enterprises in foreign trade early warning, policy research, collaborative innovation and so on. In 2012, the industry faced a low period, and she carried out in-depth research, seriously refined and actively advocated the “differentiated collaborative innovation” of the new industrial development model, which played an important role in promoting the transformation and development of Zhejiang photovoltaic industrial cluster, and influenced across the country.
